Some people say that if they had all the time in the world they would get bored. No chance of that happening to me… I would take the world and make it my own!
I grew up in 10 different countries. I have lost track of the number of nations I’ve visited – though I have every intent of getting a tally on them soon. I learned to observe, absorb and assimilate myself into different cultures. I became a chameleon, blending into the country I was in, so as to survive.
My heart is young. My mind, even more so. Chronologically… not that young any more.
I am an actor by profession (though casting associate, script doctor, and producer also fit). A painter and a photographer by hobby. And a traveler by heart and soul. I am certainly passionate about all mentioned, but the traveling… well, it fulfills me in a way that is almost inexplicable.
I traveled all my life, but this incursion through Southeast Asia (Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong) is one of many “firsts” for me. First time in the area, first time that I won’t be fluent in the native language of any of the countries I visit, first time that I decide to travel for over a month straight, first time when I effectively throw caution to the wind and do a lot of what my heart desires, and the first time -in almost a lifetime- that I am not the other half of one.
In other words, it is the first time I travel alone and, selfishly, that is one of the reasons I started this blog. I wanted someone to share with. Often we hear about the actual ‘visiting’ but I wanted you to hear and share with me all the emotions, setbacks, triumphs, time invested, frustration and anticipation that goes into the pre, the during, and the after of a trip.
May you find as much joy coming along with me through words and photos as I will find in this trip.
Having you as my virtual traveling companion makes it even more special!
It makes me happy to know you are here. 🙂
